The Losers

Despite what the posters for The A-Team told you, it turns out there is a plan B, and its name is The Losers. This flashy comic book adap is the ‘betrayed spec ops badasses’ story writ small – shrunken budget, minor stars and a no-name director. And, when you write it down to sound as mean as that, the end result is remarkably effective – the film fizzles with a flash-edited energy, full of whipcrack photography and impossible shootouts, and the scrambled cast are excellent value, especially the excitable Evans and swarthy charmer Morgan. There are downers, like the trace-paper plot and Jason Patric’s admirably offbeat but unamusing villain, but none that blow the movie’s ‘muscley dudes get revenge’ mission.
